Roller Brakes
Roller brakes are used to stop roller conveyors from underneath the roller. This allows for a low profile design that does not require having to be in front of the leading edge of the product. This comes in handy when product is back to back in a slug.
Roller Brake Applications
Roller brakes mount underneath gravity roller conveyors to stop the rollers without intruding on space above the conveyor. Typically, roller brakes are used in tandem with a blade stop to singulate cartons from a train. A blade stop would be downstream and hold the entire train back. A roller brake would actuate under the second case to hold back the second case and rest of the train, then the blade stop would lower to release the end case. Once the end case is clear, the blade stop would activate up and the roller brake would release the train.
Roller Brake Benefits
- Low profile design, does not take up any space above the conveyor
- Simple design, few moving parts. Virtually no maintenance.
- Very positive stopping of rollers, no slippage.
Roller Brake Specifications
- Brake pad is gum rubber belt material, which has tremendous stopping power.
- Actuation is by a pneumatic airbag.
- Includes solenoid valve with stop with flow control.
- Bolts to bottom flange of conveyor frame. Ability to adapt design to any conveyor manufacturer frame.
